KENNESAW, Ga. - Fresh off beginning Atlantic Sun Conference play on the road, the Kennesaw State baseball team will return home for a brief stay, hosting UAB Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at Stillwell Stadium.
The Owls (9-12) dropped two out of three in their A-Sun opening series at Campbell last weekend. The Owls defeated the Camels 7-6 in 11 innings in the second game of the series, but the win was bookended by a 3-1 loss Friday and a 9-6 loss in the finale Saturday evening.
KSU and UAB (10-7) met on the baseball diamond earlier this season. In that game, Clint Roques went 3-for-4 with a solo home run as the Owls fell to the Blazers, 10-2.
Freshman Catlan Kendrick is slated to get the start Tuesday evening for the Owls. The freshman was exceptionally sharp in his last outing, giving up just three hits and a walk while striking out four in five innings against Georgia State last Wednesday. Kendrick did not figure in the decision in that contest.
The Blazers are coming off a three-game sweep of Western Illinois over the weekend in Birmingham. UAB's John Frost leads the team in batting average with a .387 mark and is tied for the team lead in RBIs with 17.
UAB is projected to start Shay Crawford on the mound, who is 0-1 on the season with a 4.70 ERA.
Following Tuesday's game, the Owls will hit the road again, traveling to the east side of Atlanta into Panthersville to take on Georgia State in a rematch of last week's 3-2 KSU win. The two teams have never before played against each other at The Field in Panthersville.
