PRIMM, Nev. - Three Owls sit in the top-20 heading into the final round, putting the Kennesaw State women's golf team in sixth place after 36 holes at the Jackrabbit Invitational at Primm Valley Golf Club in Primm, Nev.

Head coach Rhyll Brinsmead's squad was steady throughout the day, shooting team scores of 305 and 306 to come into the clubhouse on Monday evening at +35 611. They were tied for sixth after the first round, and virtually stayed in the same spot following play in round two.

The Owls sit ten shots off the pace, set by leader Missouri State, who used a second round 296 to vault them to the top of the 16-team event, as they will enter Tuesday with a one shot lead over Oral Roberts at +23 599.

Sophomore Patricia Arana was tied for sixth after the first round on Monday afternoon after firing a one-over par 73. Her second round 79 kept towards the top of the pack in the 93- player field, as she is currently in a tie for 17th. Rhyll Brinsmead's squad is led by senior Abby Fitzgerald and freshman Ket Preamchuen. Fitzgerald shot rounds of 76-75 to come in at +7 151 and put her in a tie for 12th heading into Tuesday. Preamchuen matched Arana's opening-round 73 with one of her own in the second round to improve on her opening 78 to tie her with Fitzgerald.

Though the Owls managed to stay towards the top of the leaderboard after the first two rounds, Brinsmead still expects to improve as her squad heads into round two.

“We really struggled with our putting today. The team did not adjust to the slower greens and we left a lot of shots out on the course,” Brinsmead said. “Tomorrow our focus will be on lag putting and consistency.”

Tuesday's final round will get going at 8:30 a.m. local time, when all competitors will commence their rounds in a shotgun start. The Owls will begin their rounds on holes three through five.
