3/16/2010 10:46:43 AM

KENNESAW, Ga. - Fresh off a trip out west, the Kennesaw State baseball team will play host to in-state rival Georgia Southern this Tuesday evening at the rescheduled time of 6 p.m.

After starting the year 1-7, Kennesaw State has won six of its past eight games to improve to 7-9 on the season.  During that run, the Owls have defeated Southeastern Conference foes Tennessee (4-2 on March 6) and Georgia (11-1 on March 9).  However, it's been a while since the Owls have been home.  KSU started the season with a sweep at the hands of Liberty at Stillwell Stadium before dropping two out of three to Samford at home February 26-28, dropping their home record to 1-5.  The Owls have not been home since that Feb. 28 contest.

KSU's pitching has been a key to the turnaround in the past eight games.  The Owls has fallen from being over 9.00 to 6.59.  Micah Sales has the staff's lowest ERA among pitchers that have thrown at least 10 innings with a 2.31 mark, while Brad Long has a 3.45 ERA with a 2-0 record and a save.

Ross Tendler currently leads KSU's batters with a .321 average.  Tendler is one of five current Owls hitting over the .300 mark.  Freshman Peyton Hart has taken over the team RBI lead with14.

Georgia Southern enters the Tuesday contest with a record of 8-8 overall.  The Eagles opened up Southern Conference play in Statesboro, Ga., over the weekend, taking the first two games against Western Carolina before falling in the finale.  A.J. Winsberger has Georgia Southern's best batting average at .345, while Kyle Blackburn's 25 RBIs paces the team.
