KENNESAW, Ga. - Fresh off a one-point win over the team that was in third place in the Atlantic Sun Conference Thursday evening, the Kennesaw State women's basketball team will try to repeat the feat Saturday at 5 p.m. in the KSU Convocation Center when it faces off with USC Upstate.
The Lady Owls (6-16, 3-10) are coming off a thrilling, 52-51, victory over Mercer Thursday evening at the Convocation Center. Brandi Jones scored a career-high 19 points, connecting on five 3-pointers to lead KSU to the win. Sametria Gideon tacked on a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Angie Smith fell a point and a rebound shy with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Spartans have been idle since Monday when they defeated Jacksonville at home, 62-49. Junior forward Chelsea McMillan leads Upstate with 14.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. She has recorded double-doubles in four straight games.
The two teams have a storied history, which mostly favors the Lady Owls. KSU leads the all-time series 17-4, which includes a 15-game winning streak for KSU that spanned from the 1995-96 season until the 2008-09 campaign. The Lady Owls have not lost to Upstate in Kennesaw since Dec. 18, 1993.
Saturday's game will be available via
ASun.TV, with Dave Albert and Nathan McCreery on the call.
Following Saturday's game, the Lady Owls will hit the road for a contest at Campbell this Thursday at 7 p.m.
