Women's tennis to play a pair on Saturday

2/11/2010 7:47:33 PM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team hits the road once again as they travel to take on Alabama State and Alabama A&M this Saturday at the campus of Alabama State.

The Owls (1-3) split their road matches last weekend, handing Wright State a 6-1 loss before narrowly being defeated by Dayton.  This will mark the third straight season the Owls have faced off with Alabama State (0-1). This is the second straight year the Owls have taken on Alabama A&M (0-2).  Last season, the Owls defeated both teams by a 7-0 count.  Head coach Brandon Padgett, however, is not taking these matches lightly.

"Both teams have improved dramatically since last season," commented Padgett.  "I know they are hoping we will take them lightly, so we have prepared hard for this match and will be ready for a battle."

Both opponents this weekend have faced off with Atlantic Sun Conference opponents already this season.  Alabama State was handed a, 7-0, defeat at the hands of Mercer, while Alabama A&M went down to Lipscomb.

The Owls will take on Alabama State at 11:00 a.m. CST, followed by a 2:00 p.m. match-up with Alabama A&M. Kennesaw State was scheduled to play Alabama-Birmingham on Friday, but the match was postponed until Sunday and subsequently has now been canceled.
