Box Score

KENNESAW, Ga. - Sametria Gideon had her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds, but the Kennesaw State women's basketball team shot just 6-of-26 in the second half, falling, 59-48, to Gardner-Webb on Thursday night at the KSU Convocation Center.

"It was a tale of two halves," said KSU head coach Colby Tilley.  "We shot the ball well in the first half, but we couldn't make anything in the second half."

The Lady Owls (2-4) held a 27-25 lead after the first 20 minutes, connecting on 10-of-21 from the field for a 47.6 percent clip.  KSU kept Gardner-Webb to just 29.4 percent shooting in the opening stanza on 10-of-34 from the field.  Lisa Capellan and Chelcey Farrar each had six points in the first half, helping KSU to the lead.

The shooting touch left Kennesaw State in the second half, as Gardner-Webb opened the half on an 18-5 run over the first 12 minutes of play.  KSU went nearly 11 minutes in the second half between field goals, as Gideon connected on lay-ups at the 17:09 mark and the 6:13 mark of the period for KSU's first two made field goals of the second stanza.

Still, KSU had opportunities down the stretch in the second half, as GWU (4-3) went 9-of-18 in the second half from the free-throw line.    Turnovers would ultimately plague the Lady Owls, as seven of KSU's 13 second-half turnovers came in the final four minutes of action.

Farrar had a season-high 10 points for the Lady Owls, joining Gideon in double-figures in scoring.  The Lady Owls also out-rebounded Gardner-Webb, 42-40.

GWU's LaTroya Pope led all scorers with 15 points, adding a team-high 11 rebounds to complete the double-double.  Monique Hudson scored 14 points, with Sandra Vaitkute chipping in 11 points.

The Lady Owls will have two weeks off before starting Atlantic Sun Conference play Dec. 16 at Belmont.  Tipoff in Nashville is set for 5 p.m. CST.
