KENNESAW, Ga. - Idle since Nov. 21, the Kennesaw State women's basketball team will return to the court for one of two home games this month when it battles Gardner-Webb this Thursday. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m., with video streaming available via
ASun.TV.
"We're entering a five-game series this month where we'd like to win every game," said KSU head coach Colby Tilley. "Gardner-Webb is a very tough, with two outstanding guards and a 6-foot-6-inch post player. We've been doing a lot of work to get ready for this contest."
The Lady Owls (2-3) haven't taken the court since a, 67-56, loss to Clemson Nov. 21 in Clemson, S.C. Ashley Holliday led the Lady Owls with 17 points, connecting on 4-of-6 from 3-point territory in the loss. KSU out-scored Clemson, 41-35, in the second half and finished the contest with only 11 turnovers.
While KSU has lost three contests this season, all three losses have been to Atlantic Coast Conference schools. In their contests against non-ACC foes, the Lady Owls have wins over Florida Atlantic (65-64) and Alabama State (60-57).
Gardner-Webb (3-3) enters the contest ranked No. 19 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll. After losing three contests in a row, including one to No. 10 Oklahoma, the Runnin' Bulldogs defeated Texas-Pan American, 82-54, in GWU's finale at the Basketball Travelers Invitational Tip-Off Classic in Norman, Okla.
GWU's twin sister tandem of Monique and Dominique Hudson lead the Runnin' Bulldogs in scoring. Monique is currently averaging 13.7 points per game, while Dominique is adding 12.5 points per contest.
The Lady Owls are 4-3 all-time against Gardner-Webb. The last meeting between the squads came Feb. 9, 2008. KSU came out victorious that afternoon, 72-61, as Britteny Henderson grabbed 21 rebounds and scored 22 points in the win.
