AUSTIN, Texas – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team finished the final round of the Challenge at Onion Creek Tuesday in sixth place shooting a 301-291-306/898, +58. The Owls turned in the second best score of the afternoon (306) on the Onion Creek Golf Course to surpass Coastal Carolina (899) and Michigan (899).
"The conditions today were the toughest we had seen all season," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "I am really proud of how the team grinded it out and recorded the seconded lowest score of the day."
Sophomore Ket Preamchuen led the charge for the Owls as the Atlantic Sun All-Conference honoree finished in second place posting a score of 70-71-74/215, +5. Preamchuen finished one stroke behind the leaders Tonje Daffinrud of the University of Denver (214) and Megan Vaughn of Arkansas-Little Rock (214).
Freshmen Hayley Clinning continued her terrific play as she finished tied for 21st shooting a 79-71-74/224, +14. Senior Abby Fitzgerald finished tied for 34th after she posting a 76-75-78/229, +19. Junior Patricia Arana tied for 38th finishing with a 76-74-80/230, +20. Molly Winnett rounded out the scoring for the Owls finishing tied for 71st posting an 84-79-82/245, +35.
Prior to this weeks tournament, the Owls competed in four events this fall. Finishing 11th place at the Wolverine Invitational, seventh at the Dale McNamara Invitational and first place at the Palmetto Invitational.
