AUSTIN, Texas – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team finished the first 36-holes of the Challenge at Onion Creek in eighth place. The Black and Gold finished with a score of 301-291/592, +32, with 18-holes remaining at the Onion Creek Club. The top finisher for the Owls after two rounds was sophomore Ket Preamchuen. Preamchuen finished tied for fifth after posting a 70-71/141, +1.
“Our second round score (291) kept us in it today along with Ket’s stellar play,” head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. “We are excited to finish strong tomorrow and hope to move up the leaderboard.”
The Owls are currently 18-strokes behind current leader Coastal Carolina, 574. Iowa State and Michigan are tied for second at 575, with Illinois fourth 577, Augusta State fifth 582, Indiana sixth at 586 and Arkansas-Little Rock in seventh at 589.
Freshmen Hayley Clinning and junior Patricia Arana tied for 39th. Clinning finished shooting a 79-71/150, +10, while Arana posted a 76-74/150, +10. Senior Abby Fitzgerald tied for 47th after she posted a 76-75/151, +11. Rounding out the Black and Gold’s scorecard is Molly Winnett. Winnet finished 78th after the sophomore shot an 84-79/163, +23.
