TULSA, Okla. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team finished seventh in the Dale McNamara Invitational Wednesday at the Patriot Club after starting the day in eighth place. The Owls posted a third round score of 307 to bypass 47th ranked Arkansas Little Rock to collect a seventh place finish in one of the toughest fields the Owls will face all season. The team posted a 54-hole score of (305-307-307/919, +55) to collect their first top ten finish of the season in a field of 16 that included 11 teams that entered the week ranked in the Golfstat.com Top 100.
“I am so proud of how the team played tough and got the job done today,” head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. “The conditions were really difficult. A seventh place finish in this field is a great result.”
Junior Patricia Arana led the Black and Gold’s overall leaderboard, posting a tournament score of (76-77-73/226), finishing tied for 13th. Arana tallied nine birdies through 54-holes including two in her final 9-holes.
Freshmen Hayley Clining and Sophomore Molly Winniett both finished tied for 25th. Clinning posted a (78-76-76/230) including seven birdies. Winnett posted a score of (75-78-77/230) collecting five birdies throughout the tournament.
Sophomore Ket Preamchuen posted a (79-76-81/236) finishing 50th. Senior Abby Fitzgerald finished tied for 59th shooting a (76-83-82/241).
The Owls have two weeks off before returning to action on Oct. 25, when the team will head to Kiawah Island, S.C. to compete in the Palmetto Invitational.
