TULSA, Okla. The Kennesaw State women’s golf team finished the first round of the Dale McNamara Invitational in ninth place out of the 16 team field. The Owls are 13 strokes behind leaders UNLV and Oklahoma as the squad posted a 305, 17-over par score with two rounds left to play.
Leading the way for the Black and Gold is sophomore Molly Winnett who finished tied for 21st, shooting a 75 on the par-72 Patriot Course. Teammates Patricia Arana and Abby Fitzgerald closed play tied for 28th, as they both posted a 76.
“The team got off to a really good start today. Through nine holes we put ourselves in a great position,” head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said.
Hayley Clinning is tied for 42nd shooting a 78. Ket Preamchuen is tied for 50th posting a 79.
“After a couple of mental errors we finished really strong on some tough finishing holes. I am really proud of our effort the team put in today,” Brinsmead said.
