KENNESAW, Ga. - Powered by one of its best shooting performances of the season, the Kennesaw State women's basketball team snapped a six-game losing streak, defeating Campbell, 75-65, on Saturday evening in an Atlantic Sun Conference game at the KSU Convocaton Center.

Angie Smith led the Lady Owls with 15 points as KSU won for the first time since a Dec. 5, 2009 win over Lipscomb at the Convocation Center.  KSU shot 28-of-58 from the field, including draining 9-of-20 from 3-point territory in the win.

With the score tied 45-all with 12 minutes to go in the second half, the Lady Owls went on a 23-4 run over the next 6:30 to salt the game away.  A jumper by Smith and a 3-pointer by Ashley Holliday sparked the run, as after a Campbell lay-up, the Lady Owls scored the next 12 points in a row.  The lead bulged as high as 19 after a Smith jumper made the score 68-49 and capped the run.

Campbell rallied in the closing minutes to close the gap, outscoring KSU 13-5 over the final three minutes to pull within 10, but that would be as close as Campbell would get as the final horn sounded with KSU ahead, 75-65.

Holliday had 12 points for the Lady Owls, while DeAndrea Bullock added a dozen as well.  The trio of Brandi Jones, Gia Lockett, and Sametria Gideon all scored nine points for the Lady Owls, with Gideon grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Lady Owls (5-10, 2-4) never trailed in the contest, scoring the first five points of the game and eventually building the lead up to 10 after a Holliday 3-pointer with 12:21 left in the opening stanza.  The Campbell deficit got as low as six in the early stages of the half before a quick, 6-0 spurt , capped by a Lisa Capellan jumper, gave KSU its largest lead of the half at 13, 31-18.

The Camels (8-6, 3-2) would close the gap, using a 10-0 run to get as close as three, 31-28, as the Lady Owls settled for a 34-30 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Tonisha Baker led the Camels with 14 points in the contest while Courtney Cannon had 13 off the bench.  Campbell shot just 35.5 percent from the game, but went 17-of-21 (81 percent) from the free-throw line to stay in the contest.

The Lady Owls will be back in action this Saturday in a Noon contest at Mercer in Macon, Ga.  The game will be televised regionally by CSS.
