KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women’s golf head coach Rhyll Brinsmead has announced that former Owls standout, Laura Lindsey, has been named as assistant coach.
Lindsey was a two-year letterwinner for the Owls from 2007-2009 and is one of the top golfers in the history of the program. Lindsey led the Owls in scoring in her two years with the Black and Gold and is currently holds the all-time win/loss record at KSU.
“I am thrilled that Laura will be assisting with our team this year,” said Brinsmead. “As a player she was the model of what a student-athlete should be both academically and athletically. She has so much to contribute to the team through her personal experiences and passion for Kennesaw State women’s golf.”
Named team Most Valuable Player for the 2007-08 season, she was also named team captain for the 2008-09 campaign. After completing her senior season, Lindsey was selected as the recipient of the coaches award.
“This is such a great opportunity to start my coaching career at my alma mater,” commented Lindsey on her first coaching position. “I learned so much from Coach Brinsmead in the two years I was a player and I look forward to the experiences and education that lie ahead as a coach. I believe in this program and am very excited to continue to be a part of the great tradition that is being built.”
Lindsey is a two-time Atlantic Sun Conference Academic All-Conference Team selection and last season helped the women’s golf team earn the highest women’s team GPA at Kennesaw State.
