The Owls’ women’s tennis team will kick off their fall season this weekend, traveling to Montgomery, Ala., to compete in the Auburn University Montgomery Invitational.

The tournament, which will take place from Sept. 11-13, will include conference rival Belmont, as well as teams from Samford, University of Alabama Birmingham, and the University of South Alabama, among others.

"We are excited to see where we stand right away this season,” Head Coach Brandon Padgett said.  “The level of competition will be strong, so we have to play well to compete, which I am confident we will do."

After jumping from eleventh place to fifth last season, the Owls are looking to climb to the top of the conference standings this year, adding freshman recruits, Iesha Holton and Therese Lagerkvist to an already talented team, with this weekend marking the start of their Owls’ careers.

Following this weekend’s action, the Owls will take a week off, before returning to Alabama to compete in the Troy Invitational on September 25-27.
