JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After seven scoreless innings, Catherine Tarvin doubled down the left field line to give the Owls a 1-0 win over Jacksonville in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the JU Softball Complex. Kennesaw State lost game one, 1-0.

After holding Jacksonville (21-25, 5-11 A-Sun) to just five hits through seven innings in game two, the Owls (17-20, 4-8 A-Sun) used a single from Jordan Hackett to lead off the eighth inning. Hackett advanced to second on a sac bunt from Klair Wells and scored the eventual winning run after Tarvin doubled down the left field line.

April Harper (8-5) and KSU limited the Dolphins to just one hit in the bottom of the frame to take home the 1-0 victory. Harper held Jacksonville to just six hits in eight innings with three strikeouts.

In game one, both teams remained scoreless through four and a half innings until Jacksonville put a run on the board in the bottom of the fifth after Shannon Monahan singled to right field and was driven in on an RBI single from Amanda Schmidt, who had three hits on the day.

Kennesaw State led off the seventh with a single from Brittany Moore but the effort fell short as JU pitcher, Ashley Iveson (8-9) retired the next three batters.

Amanda Burns (2-4) received the loss for the Owls, giving up just five hits in six innings. Moore and Jacki Warren were the only Owls to tally hits in the game.

The Black and Gold return to action on Tuesday, April 14, when they travel to Atlanta, Ga. to take on non-conference foe, Georgia Tech. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the new Mewborn Field.
