Final Stats

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team won its second-straight match on Wednesday, downing Bethune Cookman 5-2 to move to 5-5 on the season.

The Owls started slow, ceding the doubles point to the Wildcats after losing two of three matches. Ayano Tanaka and Vera Shkundina continued their strong play, earning an 8-6 win at No. 1 to run their streak to four-in-a-row.

"We started off the match playing very poor doubles but responded exceptionally well in singles," said Kennesaw State Head Coach Brandon Padgett. "I'm very happy to be heading back to Kennesaw after a win."

The squad pulled it together quickly, winning four of five matches in straight sets. Shkundina won her team-leading eighth match with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Szaboova at No. 1.

Mercedes Cobos and Morgan Carney got back on the right side of the stat sheet in the Owls victory, earning 6-3, 7-6 and 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 wins at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. Agatha Palider moved to 6-1 on the season with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5 while MacKenzie Swindall won her fourth-straight match after taking down her opponent at No. 6, 7-6, 6-2.
