Box Score

KENNESAW, Ga. - Greteya Kelley led Kennesaw State's women's basketball team in scoring for the second straight game, pouring in 16 points, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Owls fell to Jacksonville, 69-64, on Thursday afternoon at the KSU Convocation Center in an Atlantic Sun Conference game.

The Lady Owls (9-11, 6-6) fell into an early hole to the hot-shooting Dolphins, who came out firing on all cylinders. Jacksonville (12-10, 8-5) scored on eight of its first 10 shots, eventually opening up a 13-point lead with seven minutes remaining in the first half. KSU chipped away at the lead, pulling to within six just before halftime when Montinique Nixon sank a lay-up. JU would get the final points of the half and take a 42-34 lead into the locker room.

KSU came out strong in the second half, opening up on an 8-2 run that was capped by a Jennifer Baker jumper to make the score 44-42. Off a JU timeout, the Dolphins scored the next nine points to re-establish a double-digit lead. KSU would consistently get close, pulling out an 8-0 run late to cut the JU lead to one, 61-60. But after DeAndrea Bullock's lay-up got KSU to its closest margin of the game, Regina Omoite hit a three-pointer with just over 90 seconds to go to give the Dolphins needed breathing room. The three sparked a seven-point spurt and gave JU the eventual margin of victory.

Nixon and Gia Lockett each came off the bench to score 11 points, while JU was led by Crystal Grable's 13.

The Lady Owls will be back in action on Saturday against North Florida. Tip-off is scheduled for 4L30 p.m.
