KENNESAW, Ga. - The Owls rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Kennesaw State snapped its three-game losing streak with a, 1-0, win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday afternoon at Bailey Park in the first game of the Owl Classic.

Kennesaw State (6-8) won the game on a wild play in the bottom of the seventh inning when an errant throw by Eastern Illinois catcher Kiley Holtz sailed over the head of third baseman Ashley Anderton and into left field. Lyndsay McCurry, who pinch ran after Amanda Burns was hit by a pitch, scampered home from second base sliding underneath the tag of Holtz for the winning run.

Catherine Tarvin (3-2) was impressive in the circle for the Owls as she tossed a complete game, four-hitter. Tarvin, who struck out four batters while walking just two, threw her first shutout and first complete game of her collegiate career. The southpaw retired the side in order three times and was able to pitch out of jams in the second, third and seventh innings when Eastern Illinois had the go ahead run at third base.

Eastern Illinois (7-3) got a solid performance from starter Amber May (5-2) who struck out 10 batters and allowed just three hits in six and two-third innings. Denee' Menzione had two hits for the Panthers who stranded five runners in the game.

Klair Wells, Hollie Huffman and Jamie KeKaualua each had hits for Kennesaw State who moved to within two games of the .500 mark.

The final day of the Owl Classic was postponed due to the threat of inclement weather in north Georgia and travel considerations for the tournament visitors.
