KENNESAW, Ga. - Martin Baker had four hits as the Kennesaw State baseball team fell 15-5 to Troy on Wednesday evening at Stillwell Stadium.

"I thought it was a pretty good game for the first half of the game," said KSU head coach Mike Sansing. "We had opportunities to score, but we just couldn't get the hits when we needed them to get the big inning."

The Owls got on the board in the third as Ric Bishop singled up the middle to score Baker with the first run of the game. KSU had a chance for a big inning, but Jace Whitmer lined into the first triple play that the Owls have hit into as members of Division I.

Troy (4-1) came back to take the lead in the top of the fourth, scoring four runs. The big blow came on a three-run homer by Steven Felix. KSU (1-3) cut into the lead in the fourth and fifth innings, as Josh Whitaker's RBI ground out in the fourth scored Curtis Van Wyck, and Ric Bishop grounded into a fielder's choice to score Baker, putting the Owls down 4-3.

A pair of Trojan homers put the game out of reach in the sixth inning. Felix connected for a two-run blast, then with two out, Ryan Ditthardt hit his first homer of the game, a three-run shot to put Troy ahead 10-3.

Troy put the game out of reach with two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth, Ditthardt's second homer of the game provided the two eighth inning runs for the Trojans.

The Owls struck back with two in the eighth of their own with a two-run shot to right by Josh Whitaker, scoring Van Wyck to make the score 14-5.

Troy finished the scoring with a solo homer in the ninth by J.R. Myers.

Justin Edwards (0-1) took the loss for the Owls, allowing four runs on seven hits in four innings of work.

Robby Loew (1-0) earned the win for Troy, pitching four effective innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits.
