Final Results and Stats
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Playing in her first collegiate tournament since joining the Owls over the winter break, freshman Patricia Arana shot a team-low 75 to lead the Kennesaw State women's golf team in Tuesday's final round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic.
After carding back-to-back 80's on the tournament's first two days, Arana turned in the Owls lowest individual total of the event on Tuesday to move nearly 30 spots up the leaderboard and finish tied for 66th. The Owls freshman got better as the day went on, making birdie on three of her last eleven holes to shoot a one-under par 36 on her back nine.
The Owls, who moved up the leaderboard in each of the tournament's three rounds, finishied tied for 30th as a team after recording a 323 in the final round,. The 972 total was the second-lowest on the season, coming in well behind their season low of 934 recorded at the Pat Bradley Invitational in October.
Ashley Aguilera carded her best total of the event on Tuesday, shooting a 79 to finish tied for 143rd. Aguilera also closed strong, coming down the stretch at one-over to finish with a 37 on her back nine.
Laura Lindsey fell back to the pack after shooting in the 80's for the first time at the event. The Owls senior closed with an 83 to finish tied for 103rd at 240. Jordan Lazenby contributed the Owls final qualifying score, tying for 173rd at 253 after shooting an 86 in the final round.
Miami and Central Arkansas shared the team title at 904, while the individual title was shared by East Tennessee State's Sinead O' Sullivan and Central Arkansas' Nicole Forshner at 218.
