DeLAND, Fla. - Freshman Kurtis Woods tied for the team high in scoring and also grabbed eight rebounds as the Kennesaw State men's basketball team fell 59-39 to Stetson on Saturday night at the Edmunds Center in an Atlantic Sun Conference game.
The Owls (7-17, 3-12) came out shooting cold and the trend continued for most of the game. KSU shot just 8-of-30 in the first half, including just 3-of-14 from beyond the arc as the Hatters built a 33-20 lead after the first 20 minutes of the contest.
Stetson (13-12, 9-7) built the lead as high as 23 early in the second half, but the Owls stormed back, going on an 8-0 run to cut the lead back down to 13, 50-37, with just under six minutes to go.
The Owls traded baskets with Stetson, but the Hatters closed the game by scoring the final seven points to win 59-39.
Woods joined John Allison and Spencer Dixon with eight points each. The Owls out-rebounded Stetson 43-39, but Stetson connected on 25-of-56 from the field, compared to just 16-of-63 for KSU.
Garfield Blair recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Hatters.
The Owls will be back in action when they travel to Fort Myers, Fla., to take on Florida Gulf Coast. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
