KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's women's basketball team will open Atlantic Sun Conference play Thursday night as the Lady Owls host the Belmont Bruins.  Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center.

The Lady Owls (3-3) are coming off a, 70-65, victory over Evansville last Saturday afternoon in the consolation game of the DoubleTree Classic.  Senior DeAndrea Bullock led the Lady Owls with 17 points, while sophomore Angie Smith scored 14 en route to being named to the All-Tournament team.

Smith has been the offensive catalyst so far for KSU in the young season.  The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native is averaging a team-high 15.3 points per game and has scored in double figures in all six games so far for the Lady Owls.  Smith is tied with freshman Ashley Holliday for the team lead in 3-pointers, as both have made 10 on the young season.

Senior Gia Lockett is helping to lead the Lady Owls on the defensive front.  Lockett has 21 steals on the year for an average of 3.5 steals per game.  Lockett is also scoring at a high clip, as she is second on the team in scoring with 13.2 points per contest.

Belmont (4-1) is led in scoring by Amber Rockwell with 14.2 points per contest, but the Bruins are led inside by Haley Nelson.  Nelson is averaging 13.6 points per game and a conference-best 12.4 rebounds per game.  Nelson was named A-Sun Player of the Week earlier this season after leading the Bruins to an overtime win over Alabama.

Following Thursday's contest, the Lady Owls will play host to Lipscomb in an A-Sun game this Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.  Tip-off is again slated for 5 p.m.
