KENNESAW, Ga. - After an eight-day respite for the holiday season, the Kennesaw State women's basketball team will resume its four-game road trip, traveling to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face No. 7 North Carolina. Tip time is set for 2 p.m.
The Lady Owls (4-6) last played Dec. 21 when KSU lost at the hands of Georgia Southern, 80-67. Senior Gia Lockett led the way for the Lady Owls with 19 points in the loss, while sophomore Angie Smith scored 12 off the bench and freshman Ashley Holliday added 11.
UNC (9-1) moved up to No. 7 in both the Associated Press poll and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' poll released earlier Monday. In its last contest, UNC blew an 18-point first-half lead, then came back to defeat South Carolina, 93-85, at the Beach Ball in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Sunday afternoon. Cetera DeGraffenreid had 26 points and 10 assists to pace the UNC attack, while Italee Lucas had 23 points
This is the second time the two schools have met. The first meeting came last season in Chapel Hill, when the Lady Owls fell 102-68 at the hands of the Tar Heels. Smith and Lockett each had 12 points for the Lady Owls in the loss.
Following Tuesday's tilt, the Lady Owls will continue their road swing with a pair of games in Jacksonville, Fla. KSU will face North Florida this Saturday at 4:30 p.m., before battling Jacksonville University next Monday at 5 p.m.
