Lady Owls Travel to Statesboro

KSU to face Georgia Southern on the road for first time

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's women's basketball team begins a four-game road trip Monday evening as the Lady Owls travel to Statesboro, Ga., to face Georgia Southern.  Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

KSU (4-5) is coming off a, 94-48, loss to No. 25 Georgia Tech Friday night at the KSU Convocation Center.  Brandi Jones led the Lady Owls in scoring with 13 points off the bench in the loss.  Sametria Gideon had 12 points, while Gia Lockett had eight points and five assists.

The two teams have only met once before, but Lockett made a big memory for the Lady Owls in the contest.  KSU defeated Georgia Southern Dec. 15, 2008, 82-61.with Lockett leading the way.  The Snellville, Ga., native scored a KSU Division I-record 36 points, going 14-of-17 from the field, including 6-of-8 shooting from 3-point territory.  Montinique Nixon was KSU's second-leading scorer that night, putting in 13 points in the victory.

Georgia Southern (5-4) was scheduled to play at Western Carolina last Saturday, but due to snowy conditions, the game was postponed.  In their last contest, the Lady Eagles defeated UNC Asheville, 56-38.  J'Lisa Ogburn led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 16 points in the victory.  On the season, she is tied for the team lead in scoring, averaging 11.1 points per game.

Following Monday's game, the Lady Owls will be off until Dec. 29, when the Lady Owls travel to face North Carolina.  Tipoff in that game is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Chapel Hill, N.C.
