CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Jeff Karlsson led the Owls again on Tuesday, Oct. 27, finishing in a sixth place tie at 4-under par 212 at the Aldila Scenic City Invitational co-hosted by UT-Chattanooga and Middle Tennessee State at the Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Owls fell from eighth to ninth on the final day of competition, following up rounds of 295 and 282 on Monday with a third round 297 to finish at 874.
"We played solid today in difficult conditions, which was encouraging to see," Head Coach Jay Moseley said. "Overall it was a solid finish and a decent fall campaign."
Middle Tennessee State took home first place after shooting a 851, followed by Wichita State, Southern Mississippi, Furman, University of Missouri, Charlotte, UT-Chattanooga, Iowa State, and then the Owls.
Karlsson, who began the day in a tie for fifth after rounds of 71 and 68 on Monday, added a 73 on Tuesday for his sixth place finish.
Karlsson was followed in the standings by Chad Wilson and Ben Greene, both of whom finished in a tie for 33rd at 5-over par 221.
J.P. Putnam finished not far behind, shooting a 75 on Tuesday to end the day in a tie for 36th at 6-over par 222.
Alex Jones, the Owls’ final participant, shot his lowest round of the tournament, a 75 on Tuesday, to jump from 83nd to a tie for 68th at 16-over par 232.
With the fall season in the books, the Owls will not see action again until their spring season gets underway on February 21.
"We have lots of room to improve and during the offseason we are going to work hard to get better," Moseley said.
