The Owls were back in action on Monday, Oct. 26, at the Aldila Scenic City Invite in Chattanooga, Tenn., finishing the day in eighth place at 1-over par 587.
After carding a 295 to leave them in 12th place after the first round, the Owls rebounded with a 282 in the second to pull them into eighth.
"We played much better in the second round," Head Coach Jay Moseley said. "We struggled on the greens in the morning, but the guys adjusted well and we finished up pretty solid overall."
Tournament co-host UT-Chattanooga and Wichita State are currently leading the field at the Council Fire Golf Club after shooting a 12-under par 564 in the first two rounds. They are followed in the standings by Southern Mississippi, Charlotte, co-host Middle Tennessee State, the University of Missouri, Furman, and then the Owls.
Jeff Karlsson led the Owls through the first 36 holes, carding rounds of 71 and 68 to leave him in a tie for fifth place after the first day at 5-under par 139.
Next on the leader board for Kennesaw State was freshman Ben Greene, who after shooting a 75 in the first round, came back strong in round two with a 69 to finish in a tie for 21st at even par 144.
J.P. Putnam and Chad Wilso finished not far behind, both tying for 36th at the end of the first day of competition at 3-over par 147. Putnam carded rounds of 74 and 73, while Wilson, who after finishing round one in a tie for 49th at 75, rebounded in the second round with a 72.
Alex Jones completed the scoring for the Owls in 83rd at 13-over par 157.
The tournament will conclude, tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 27 with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
