KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State softball team defeated Middle Georgia College, 5-0, in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Bailey Park.
The third fall game of the season saw the Owls (2-0-1) pick up their first shutout with sophomore
Jessica Cross pitching five innings and sophomore Amanda Burns pitching the final two in relief. Cross only allowed one hit and struck out two while Burns gave up one hit in the seventh.

Jenna Closner and juniors
Lyndsay McCurry and
Klair Wells led the Owls offensively with two hits a piece while Closner also had two RBI. Also tallying hits for the Black and Gold were Cross, Katie Hamilton and a double to right center from
Kelsey Kulk.
Kennesaw State scored a run in the first inning after
Jensen Hackett scored Kulk with a sacrifice fly to center field. The Owls put three runs on the board in the second inning and another in the fourth to defeat MGC in game one.
