Box Score

KENNESAW, Ga.--Junior libero Selina O'Leary was named to the All-Tournament team of the 2008 Owls Challenge. Kennesaw State lost to Butler 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-22) in the final match of the tournament.

"Selina has been one of the hardest workers for us from the off-season to today," said KSU head coach Valerie Jones. "I'm very happy to see her recognized as an All-Tournament team member.

Aside from O'Leary's accomplishment, there was not a lot of positives to come out of the final match of the tournament for the Owls (1-5). Juniors Chelsey Denesha and Asjia Stokes matched redshirt sophomore Sabrita Gulley with four kills for team-high honors. O'Leary had a team-best nine digs, giving her an average of 4.50 digs per set for the tournament.

Owls Challenge MVP Porshia Allen had 14 kills to lead the way for Butler (6-1). All-Tournament team member Dana Daprile flirted briefly with a triple-double, recording 29 assists, eight kills, and five digs for the Bulldogs.

The third set was the most competitive set of the match, as KSU whittled a seven point lead for the Bulldogs down to three. Trailing 17-10, the Owls scored six of the next eight points thanks in part to kills by Stokes, Callie Churchwell, and Maja Kostic. But the Owls could never close the gap any tighter, fighting off two match points before Allen's final kill of the match gave Butler the win.

In the first match of the evening session, Austin Peay State rolled to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-14) sweep of Loyola (Md.). Kayla Grantham led the Lady Govs attack with 15 kills, with All-Tournament team members Stephanie Champine and Jessica Mollman adding 13 and 11, respectively.

Nicole Scimeme of the Greyhounds was also named to the All-Tournament team. She recorded six kills in the loss to APSU.

The Owls will not have much time to lick their wounds as KSU travels to Macon, Ga., this Tuesday to take on the Mercer Bears. Match time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
