Final Stats
MADISON, Wisc. - The Kennesaw State Women's Golf team couldn't find its game this weekend, coming in twelfth after a disappointing performance at the University of Wisconsin's Badger Invitational.
"I was really hoping that our women could finish strong today to give themselves a boost of confidence," said Kennesaw State Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "One solid performance in a field such as this goes a long way towards building positive momentum for the rest of the season."
Laura Lindsey was the only Owl golfer to break 80 in Sunday's final round, turning in a seven-over par 79 at the 6,216-yard, par-72 University Ridge Golf Course. Lindsey finished in 64th place with a three round 252 total.
Jordan Lazenby had the Owls best overall finish, coming in tied for 26th at 232 after closing with an 82. Lazenby was in contention for a top 10 finish heading into Sunday before stumbling in the final 18.
Ashley Aguilera and Malin Becker turned in KSU's other two scores in the final round. Aguilera carded an 83 to finish tied for 53rd while Becker's closing 88 earned her a 69th place finish.
The Owls finished 12th as team after their 332 on Sunday gave them a 983 54-hole total for the event.
California won the team title at 889, 13 strokes clear of second place Wisconsin. The Badger's Jessie Gerry, playing as an individual, won the individual title with a one-under par 215.
"We should continue to keep our heads held high," added Brinsmead. "I scheduled a tough fall schedule because I believe in the abilities of our girls and that hasn't changed. We have to continue to fight because we only have five days off before returning to the road and another deep field."
The Owls will return to action on Monday, October 6 when they travel to Bradenton, Fla. to compete in the University of South Florida's Waterlefe Invitational.
