First Day Results

LAWRENCE, Kansas - The Kennesaw State Women's Golf team couldn't find its rhythm Monday, ending the day in 15th place after the first two rounds of play at the University of Kansas' Marilyn Smith Sunflower Invitational at the par-72, 6,242-yard Alvamar Golf Club.

The Owls never got things going in the morning session, coming in tied for 14th after combining for an opening round 328. The second 18 wasn't any easier for Kennesaw State, as the Owls fell to a solo 15th after turning in an afternoon 333.

Ashley Aguilera led the Owls in the opening round, carding a five-over par 77 to stand tied for 12th, just four strokes off of the individual lead. The junior from Holiday, Fla. couldn't maintain her solid play in the second round, falling back to pack after an uncharacteristic 85.

Senior, Laura Lindsey was the lone KSU to break 80 in the second round, turning in a team-low 79 to move to a tie for 40th. Lindsay Hagerman contributed an 84 towards the team score in the first round, while Malin Becker turned in an 84 of her own to add to the Owls score in the second.

Oral Roberts is the team leader heading into the final round after coming in at 615 through the initial 36 holes. The Jayhawks' Jennifer Cook, who is playing as an individual, holds the individual lead at 149 after going 74-75.

The final 18 will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
