KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State head coach Tony Ingle has announced that former Auburn forward Matt Heramb, has signed with the Owls for the 2008-09 season in an announcement made this morning at the KSU Convocation Center.

Heramb, who played two seasons for the Tigers, was granted a release from his scholarship to Auburn on April 11 and will join the Owls as a redshirt for the upcoming season.

`We are excited that Matt has decided to continue his basketball career with the Owls," said Ingle this morning. "He should be able to help us because he's a very versatile player who can play multiple positions."

The 6-foot-9-inch forward appeared in 27 games last season for the Tigers, averaging 3.0 points and 1.4 rebounds in nearly 10 minutes per game. A native of Norcross, Ga., Heramb shot 52 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range and 93 percent from the foul line.

"We started to recruit Matt three years ago and at that time he chose Auburn," added Ingle. "We're happy that now he has decided that Kennesaw State is a good fit for him."

The Chapel Hill High School product scored a career-high 17 points at Alabama State and scored in double figures three times last season including an 11-point night against Presbyterian and a 10-point game versus Towson.

"Matt is a strong, talented player and most importantly to us he is a solid student-athlete," commented Ingle. "He takes his academics seriously and we're looking forward to having an athlete of his caliber playing for us."

In his freshman season, Heramb averaged 1.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and shot 53 percent from the field while playing in 13 games.
