KENNESAW, Ga. - Brittany Matthews picked up a win and a save in her second straight doubleheader as the Owls took a pair of, 2-1, games from North Florida at Bailey Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Owls (27-9, 5-1 A-Sun) won the opening game when Amanda Malcom delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning giving the Owls a, 2-1, victory. Hollie Huffman led off the inning via an error and Lyndsay McCurry followed with an infield hit before Malcom's game-winning single to left field.

Matthews was again dominating as she earned her 17th win of the season. The left-hander allowed just five hits and had five strikeouts with her only mistake of the day coming in the sixth inning when she surrendered a home run to UNF's Heather Hyde.

The Owls got on the board in the second inning when McCurry singled off North Florida pitcher Devyn Findley and an aggressive Sarah Hesterman hustled home from second base.

In the nightcap, Kennesaw State spotted North Florida a run when Hyde took an Angela Lopez pitch over the left center field fence in the first inning. However, that was all the offense UNF would get as Lopez and Matthews would shut down the Ospreys.

With KSU ahead in the sixth inning the Owls executed the play of the year when they needed it most. North Florida (29-17, 6-4 A-Sun) put runners on first and second with nobody out as Matthews walked Katie Rutenbar and Hyde reached on an error. Lauren Williams then attempted to bunt but popped up to a rushing Corri Connally who caught the fly, turned and threw to Jamie KeKaualua covering first who ten threw to Amanda Malcom for the completion of the Owls second ever triple play.

The Owls scored their two runs in the third inning when Connally and Cross delivered two-out, back-to-back doubles. Cross doubled to left center field scoring Malcom who led the inning off with a walk and Connally followed with a double to the fence in left field giving the Owls a 2-1 lead.

Kennesaw State will be back in action when they play a doubleheader against Georgia State on Tuesday afternoon in Panthersville. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
