Box Score

KENNESAW, Ga.--In the first three innings and the final two frames of Kennesaw State's baseball contest with No. 17 Georgia Tech, the Owls held the Yellow Jackets scoreless. Unfortunately for KSU, the Owls gave up 10 runs in the middle four innings, losing 10-0 on Tuesday night at Stillwell Stadium.

Jay Morrow went 3-for-3 with three singles for the Owls. Josh Whitaker had the other hit for Kennesaw State.

KSU (6-12) left 10 men on base in the contest, but could never get the big hit to punch through against Yellow Jackets pitching. The Owls' best threat came in the fourth inning when Morrow and Whitaker reached with back-to-back one-out singles. But a fielder's choice and a strike out ended the Black and Gold threat.

Micah Sales (0-3) pitched well for the Owls, with the only real blemish on his line coming on a fourth inning solo homer by Derek Dietrich that gave Tech its first run. Sales allowed a total of four hits and walked one batter while striking out one.

Michael Bohana came in to relieve Sales to start the fifth and very nearly got out of a bases loaded jam. Unfortunately, a wild pitch brought home a run for the Yellow Jackets, and on the seventh pitch of the at bat, Brad Feltes homered off the Bailey Building in left to give Tech (14-3) an insurmountable 5-0 lead.

Deck McGuire earned the victory for the Yellow Jackets. McGuire went seven innings and allowed three hits. He walked two and struck out six in addition to hitting three Owls batters with pitches.

Kennesaw State will return to action this Thursday when Belmont visits to start a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
