KENNESAW, Ga.--Junior Jacob Robbins had three hits and scored a run, but it wasn't enough as the Owls fell, 7-1, to Florida Gulf Coast on Friday night at Stillwell Stadium. The loss dropped the Owls to 2-2 in A-Sun play, while FGCU improved to 6-1 in the conference.
Robbins started his stellar day with an infield hit in the first inning when his scorching shot ticked off of the third baseman's glove. Robbins got his second hit when he legged out a single on a deep grounder to short. In the ninth, the Calhoun, Ga., native legged out a third single on a bouncer to third.
Robbins scored KSU's run when he raced home from third on Ric Bishop's double play ball in the ninth.
The Owls (5-1) fell behind early on a two-run blast by Jason Peacock in the first for FGCU. Mikel Alvarez connected for a solo blast to right in the third to put the Eagles ahead by three. In the eighth, the Eagles (13-3) put the game away with four runs. The big blow came off the bat of Vinnie Scarduzio, who lined a bases loaded double to the gap in left center, scoring three runs.
