BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Owls final trip to historic Carter Gymnasium was a forgettable one as Kennesaw State made just four of 24 three-pointers in a, 75-55, loss to Campbell on Thursday evening.

Kennesaw State (6-18, 3-7 A-Sun), in its final game of a three-game road trip, dropped its third straight contest as Campbell (10-12, 5-5 A-Sun) shot 53 percent from the floor.

The Camels were led by the Atlantic Sun Conference's leading scorer, Jonathan Rodriguez (7-for-13), who registered a double-double, scoring a game-high 20-points while grabbing 12 rebounds.

The Black and Gold did manage to stay close to the Camels as they twice whittled large deficits to single-digits in the second half. Kennesaw State battled back to trail 46-40 and 59-52 in the second stanza, but could get no closer as they made just four-of-17 shots over the final 11 minutes, including missing their last 10 shots from the floor.

The Owls leading scorer, Ronell Wooten (2-for-10), who was third in the conference in scoring heading into the game, was held to just six points. Wooten, who played just 10 minutes and did not score in the first half due to foul trouble, couldn't get on track as he was held to his second-lowest scoring game of the season.

Sophomore Jon-Michael Nickerson (7-for-12) led the Owls in scoring for the first time this year as he dropped in a season-high 17 points. Nickerson scored his career-high, 19-points, last season also against Campbell.

Shuan Stegall (4-for-11), who had his seventh straight double-digit scoring game, added 12 points as the Owls had just two players score in double figures as they shot just 36 percent from the floor.

After jumping out to a 4-0 lead, a 17-2 Campbell run in the early stages of the game put the Owls behind 17-6. However, the Black and Gold answered with a 14-3 run to tie the game at 20 with 6:44 left in the half. KSU trailed by seven points, 32-25, at halftime after a Jake Wohlfeil hit a three-pointer at the buzzer capping a mini, 5-0, spurt by the hometown Camels.

The second half saw the Owls unable to prevent the sharp-shooting Camels from scoring. Campbell shot 56 percent in the second half as they finished with four players scoring in double-figures including Reggie Bishop with 16 points, Preston Dodson with 14 and Wohlfeil with 11 points.

Tanner Jacobs scored eight points for the Owls while Jonathan Whipple chipped in seven points.

The Owls will be back in action as they begin their final home stand of the season on Saturday evening when they battle the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb. Tip-off at the KSU Convocation Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game can be seen on the web on ASun.TV or can be heard on SuperTalk 1230/1340 AM.
