Box Score

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Ric Bishop had two hits and drove in Kennesaw State's only run as the Owls fell, 3-1, to Troy University on a blistering cold Tuesday afternoon at Stillwell Stadium.

The Trojans (5-0) took the lead in the top of the second when Brett Henry's sacrifice fly scored Beau Brooks from third, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage. The Henry and Brooks combo would strike again in the fourth, as a double to left by Henry scored Brooks to make it 2-0.

In the sixth, Brooks homered to right center to give the visitors a 3-0 lead. On the day, Brooks went 3-for-4 and finished a triple shy of the cycle.

KSU (2-2) got on the board in the bottom of the sixth as Martin Baker led off the inning with a bunt single and a steal of second. With two gone in the inning, Baker would come home to score on Bishop's RBI single up the middle, making the score 3-1.

That would be as close as the Owls would get on this day. Drew Hull pitched 2.1 scoreless innings and A.J. Howard recorded the final out for a save to give the visitors the win.

The Owls managed six hits against the Trojans, with Jacob Robbins extending his hitting streak to 10 games with a double to right in the third inning. In addition to the hits by Bishop and Baker, Tyler Stubblefield had a pinch hit single in the ninth and Curtis Van Wyck earned a bunt single in the fifth.

Micah Sales (0-1) took the loss for the Owls, giving up two runs on four hits in five innings of work. Kenny Faulk gave up a run in two innings of action, while Brett Kennedy and Ryan Rodebaugh each pitched a scoreless frame.

Mike Powers (1-0) worked five innings to earn the win for Troy.

The Owls will return to action on Wednesday when Stetson visits for a key Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Stillwell Stadium.
