BRADENTON, Fla. - Malin Becker turned in her first collegiate even-par round Tuesday, leading the Owls to a tenth place finish at the University of South Florida's Waterlefe Invitational.

Becker improved upon her previous collegiate-low, a 78 in Monday's opening round, by six strokes to finish tied for 21st at 150. She moved 26 spots up the leaderboard in the final round, marking her best collegiate finish and the lowest 36-hole total of her career.

"It was nice to see Malin come out and play such a good round today," said Kennesaw State Head Coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "This was another example of the type of talent that we have on this team."

Laura Lindsey also finished inside of the top 25, tying for 25th after falling back to the pack with a Tuesday 79. It was Lindsey's first top 25 finish since last March.

Ashley Aguilera and Jordan Lazenby contributed Kennesaw State's other two scores of the day, turning in an 81 and an 80 respectively. Aguilera finished tied for 42nd, while Lazenby placed 57th. Though she was the Owls lowest finisher, Lindsay Hagerman was second in par five scoring at 4.75.

The Owls as a team were fourth in par five scoring (5.15) and fourth in pars (112). The top 10 was KSU's best finish since the season-opening Wolverine Invitational where they placed sixth.

Atlantic Sun Conference rival Campbell took the team title, outpacing the host Bulls by nine strokes after coming in at 581. Coastal Carolina's Aruka Felgueroso won the individual title, finishing with a three-under par 141.

"Though the final result isn't the greatest indicator, I feel that we made some fantastic improvements in Florida," added Brinsmead. "We now get a good stretch of practice time to prepare for our final fall event where if we play as a team, we should be able to compete for a strong finish."

The team will get three weeks off to rest before returning to Florida for its final tournament of the season, North Florida's Pat Bradley Invitational on October 26th and 27th.
