Box Score
FORT MYERS, Fla.--Redshirt sophomore Sabrita Gulley led the Kennesaw State volleyball team in kills, but the Owls lost 3-0 (2509, 15-17, 25-12) to Florida Gulf Coast on Friday night. The loss snapped KSU's Atlantic Sun Conference winning streak at three matches.
The Owls (5-19, 4-11) committed 23 errors on the attack, compared to just six for the Eagles. KSU led in the first set after taking the first point on a service error, but the Owls were only able go get four kills the rest of the way in the opening frame.
The second set was more competitive as KSU led 2-1 after a Paris Leonce kill. FGCU (16-6, 14-1) tied the score, but a kill for Gulley and an FGCU attack error put KSU ahead, 4-2. The Owls would lead 5-3 after an FGCU service error, but FGCU would score five of the next six points and never look back.
In the final set, the Eagles would score seven of the first eight points to open up a large early lead. The Owls would cut the deficit to four, 11-7, after consecutive kills by Gulley and Asjia Stokes. That would be as close as KSU would get, as FGCU took 14 of the final 19 points of the match to win.
The Owls will return to action on Saturday evening when they face Stetson University in DeLand, Fla. Match time is set for 5:00 p.m.
