Kennesaw, Ga. - The Fall Classic begins in Kennesaw as the 2008 Kennesaw State Black and Gold World Series begins on Tuesday afternoon at Stillwell Stadium.

The best-of-three series will continue on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at 2:45 p.m. at Stillwell Stadium as the fall session concludes.

`We are always excited to play our annual World Series," said head coach Mike Sansing. "Also, having it coincide with the major league playoffs adds something extra."

Longtime baseball booster Fred Stillwell will throw out the first pitch before the opening game of the series between the Black Team, managed by volunteer assistant coach Eric McQueen, and the Gold Team, led by assistant coach Ryan Coe.

The first game of the series begins with a battle of right-handed pitchers. Kyle Heckathorn will take the mound for the Gold Team while Chad Jenkins will toe the rubber for the Black Team.

"The intensity level has been building over the past week and the players are ready to compete at a higher level as fall practice comes to an end," added Sansing.

All three games are free and open to the public. Players and coaches will be available for pictures and autographs after each game.
