AUBURN, Ala. - The Owls came into Tuesday night's match against Auburn looking to notch its biggest win in the program's short history. Kennesaw State left Tuesday's game still looking for that win as Auburn handed Kennesaw State a 3-0 loss at the Auburn University Student Activities Center.

The Owls (2-6) got off to a slow start and were never able to recover, losing 30-13, 30-21 and 30-15. Auburn, who defeated the Owls last season, raised their record to 6-2 on the season.

Kennesaw State took the first point of the match and led 1-0 before the Tigers took over. The Owls fell behind 7-2 early in the first game and weren't able to come within four points the remainder of the game.

Auburn was aggressive from the beginning and kept the pressure on the Owls throughout the match. The Tigers out hit Kennesaw State by a .330 to -.012 margin as the outcome of the match was never really in doubt.

Auburn's Jelena Sekulic, Rachel Shanks and Whitney Jacob all finished the match with double-digit kills while the Owls where led by Asjia Stokes who had eight.

While the Owls had a lackluster performance overall, they were once again able to out-block their opponents. Kennesaw State had five blocks on the night to the Tigers four. Lindsey Plotner, who had six kills in the match, led the Owls with one block solo and two block assists.

After dropping the first game, the second and third games saw the Owls trail 6-1 and 7-0 early, but the Owls did show promise in the second game. KSU hit in a positive percentage (.062) and were able to stay within striking distance of the Tigers before falling by nine points.

In the third and final game, Auburn freshman Nicki Gerig served seven straight points to give Auburn an early 7-0 lead, as they cruised to the sweep.

Kennesaw State will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Chicago, Ill. to play in the DePaul Tournament. The Owls will play host DePaul, South Alabama and Samford in pool play.
