In their final tune-up before the start of Atlantic Sun Conference play, the Kennesaw State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (32-30, 30-14, 30-24) decision at Troy University on Tuesday night.
The Owls (2-13) showed a great deal of character in the first game. Playing in front of a hostile crowd, the Black and Gold rallied from an eight-point deficit to tie the score and send the first game into extra points.
With the score tied at 30-all and momentum in the match hanging in the balance, the Trojans were able to squeak by with the next two points to take the first game.
The home team hit its stride offensively in game two. The Owls were limited to just 14 points tallied in a 30-14 loss.
Kennesaw rebounded in the third game, challenging the Trojans (9-7) more with crisper play. But in the end, it would not be enough as Troy would take the final game 30-24 and win the match 3-0. The win marked the fourth in a row for Troy.
Tonight's match marked the third straight match in the state of Alabama for the Owls, as Kennesaw State played in two matches at the Jaguar Classic in Mobile last Friday and Saturday.
Kennesaw State's next match will be at home and will mark the open of A-Sun play. The Owls will challenge Belmont this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center. Admission is free to all KSU staff and students.
