MOBILE, Ala. - The Kennesaw State men's golf team is right in the thick of things following a strong showing in the first two rounds of the University of South Alabama's Jaguar Intercollegiate at the Azalea City Golf Course in Mobile, Ala.
The Owls find themselves in third place after finishing the day with a 16-under par, 516. Kennesaw State worked out their kinks in the first round, posting a two-under par 286 to finish in fourth.
After shaking off the rust, the Owls shaved 12 strokes off of their first round team score by shooting a school-record 14-under par 274 in the second round to finish only five strokes behind the second place host Jaguars.
"We played really well in the second round, with contributions from top to
bottom," said Kennesaw State head coach Blake Smart. "Hopefully we can put together a strong final round and get some positive momentum heading into the Brickyard."
Michael Tulacz leads all Owl golfers through two rounds after firing a seven-under par 137 (72-65) to finish tied for fourth. His second round 65 is the lowest round any Owl golfer has fired in competition since joining the Atlantic Sun Conference.
