Owls Have Success With Split Squad

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - The Kennesaw State men's track and field team split for the first time this outdoor season and competed extremely well this past weekend in both the Florida Relays and the Gem of the Hills Invitational hosted by Jacksonville State University.

Peikko Solla was the top finisher in the Florida Relays for KSU, as he finished third in the 5,000-meter run. The Owls freshman crossed the line in a personal best time of 14:48.07, a nearly 20-second improvement on his previous best. Jerome McKenzie finished fourth in the high jump with a leap 1.98m (6-06.00), while Devin Jones tied his school record to finish eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.16.

Aymerick Kolokilagi was first in section B of the shot-put, and third overall in the B section of the discus. Josh McNair finished second in the B section discus.

At the Gem of the Hills Invite, freshman Justin Jeter led the way for KSU, finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.69. In his first time this season in the 1,500-meter run, Scott Burley took home sixth with, crossing the line in 4:11.02.

Benjamin Gray ran a good time (1:01.44) to finish seventh in the 400-meter hurdles, while Nathan Haskins set a season-best to finish ninth in the 5,000-meter run (16:12.39).

The 4 x 400-meter relay team ran a great race to finish second with a time of 3:29.01.

The Owls will take a week off before returning to the track on April 21 in the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Alabama.
