KENNESAW, Ga. - Brittany Matthews was once again impressive shutting down Campbell on two hits as Kennesaw State won the first game of a doubleheader with the Camels, 3-1, at Bailey Park on Saturday afternoon.

Matthews (15-3), who pitched a no-hitter and earned a save in yesterday's doubleheader, allowed just two hits and struck out 10 batters as the Owls won their third straight conference game.

Kennesaw State (31-14, 5-2 A-Sun) jumped ahead in the fourth inning when Keri McKee (1-for-2) walked and Jennifer Nolan (1-for-3) followed with a single. An April Keasler (1-for-3) bunt single loaded the bases and Kelsey Kulk (0-for-2) knocked in the first run when she was hit by a pitch. Megan Gant (1-for-3) drove in the second run of the inning on a groundout to first base.

Meanwhile, Matthews held the Camels hitless through the first four innings of the game. However, the camels rallied in the top of the fifth. Courtney Quinn (1-for-3) led off the fifth inning with a single to center field. Karlie Love (1-for-1) followed with a base hit to right field to put runners on the corners.

Matthews then struck out Olivia Ghiselli (0-for-2) swinging as the Camels went for the double-steal. Surrendering the run, Gant threw to second base where Amanda Malcom tagged out pinch runner Hilary Wheatley to limit Campbell (28-23-1, 5-6 A-Sun) to one run.

Norie Glazebrook (2-for-3), the only batter in the KSU lineup with multiple hits, gave the Owls an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning with her first home run of the season.

Lauren Caviness (12-15), who had 16 strikeouts in yesterday afternoon's extra-inning win over Mercer, held the Owls to six hits but did not record a strikeout.
