Box Score

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a four-run, fifth inning as the Owls defeated Stetson, 6-3, to sweep a doubleheader from the Hatters on Friday afternoon at Bailey Park.

The Owls, who were looking for their second straight win and first conference sweep of the year, trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning before capitalizing on a pair of Stetson errors.

Stetson head coach Frank Griffin replaced starter Heather Colding with Amanda Lindsey to begin the fifth inning. Colding had allowed just one run in four innings, but the Owls did mange to get six hits off the Lakeland, Fla. senior.

Klair Wells (1-for-4) greeted Lindsey with a single and Kelley Cowart (3-for-4) reached on an error. After a wild pitch moved the runners to second and third, Griffin went back to the bullpen, bringing Colding back into the game.

Keri McKee (1-for-2) welcomed back Colding with a sacrifice fly to deep center field, scoring Wells and bringing the Owls to within a run. Jennifer Nolan (2-for-3) singled to put runners on the corners. April Keasler (0-for-3) would drive in the tying run when the grounder she hit was bobbled by Nicole Forbes, scoring Cowart with the game tying run.

Kennesaw State took the lead moments later when Norie Glazebrook (1-for-2) ripped a double to right-center field. The line drive off the fence scored Keasler and Nolan as the Owls took a 5-3 lead. KSU would add a run on a solo home run by Cowart in the sixth inning.

The Owls (30-14, 4-2 A-Sun) trailed early as starter Missy Hobdy surrendered a second inning, leadoff home run to Blythe Golden (2-for-3). Hobdy's first pitch of the inning was poked down the left field line and barely cleared the fence as it appeared for a moment that the Owls left fielder, Kelsey Kulk, had come up with ball.

Stetson (30-16, 4-4 A-Sun) added a run in the third inning when a two-out throwing error by third baseman Nolan scored Sherrel Fountain (2-for-3) for a 2-0 lead. Nolan would redeem herself in the bottom of the inning when she delivered a clutch, two-out, RBI-double to center field.

The Hatters scratched across a run in the fifth inning when Fountain walked to leadoff the inning. Stetson's speedster promptly stole second and scored on a pair of wild pitches by Janet Kearns for a 3-1 lead.

Kearns (5-4) picked up the win in relief of Hobdy. The senior entered the game in the fourth inning and pitched two hitless innings of relief. Brittany Matthews, who threw a no-hitter in the opener, earned her second save of the season as she pitched the final two innings of the game.

The Owls will host the Campbell Camels in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. First-pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Bailey Park.
