KENNESAW, Ga. - Norie Glazebrook pitched six innings of two-hit ball and struck out a career-high eight batters while Jennifer Nolan had a pair of runs batted in to lead Kennesaw State to a, 4-0, win over Jacksonville and a sweep of Friday afternoon's doubleheader at Bailey Park.
In similar fashion as the first game, Kennesaw State (37-17, 11-3 A-Sun) jumped out to an early lead and cruised to its fourth straight conference win.
April Keasler led off the second inning with a double down the left field line and moved to third base when freshman Kelsey Kulk singled to right field. Kulk, along with junior Kelley Cowart, had two hits in the game. Norie Glazebrook promptly singled to score Keasler while Kulk came around after an error by the Dolphins Jillian Mirante.
Kennesaw State added a pair of runs in the following inning when, this time, Cowart doubled to lead off. Keri McKee cracked a double, the second of five two-baggers by the Owls in the game, to put runners on second and third. Jennifer Nolan then hit a two-run double to left field, making the score 4-0.
Glazebrook (5-4) was strong over six innings as she allowed Jacksonville (15-39, 4-10 A-Sun) only two hits and none over her final four innings of work. The Owls sophomore surrendered a first-inning single to Mirante and a second inning, leadoff-single, to Kelly McKeon.
The right-hander then retired 11 batters in a row before issuing a walk to Sara Gordon in the fifth inning. She also gave up a walk to Ashley Mora in the sixth before being replaced by Missy Hobdy in the seventh.
After two quick outs in the seventh inning, Jacksonville would get a rally going as Amber Moseley and Mora singled before Hobdy got Valerie Alter to pop out to short to end the game.
Kennesaw State will celebrate Senior Day 2007 on Saturday afternoon when they Owls battle rival North Florida in a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader. The pre-game ceremony, honoring Megan Gant, Missy Hobdy, Janet Kearns, April Keasler, Keri McKee and Jennifer Nolan will begin at 1:25 p.m.
