Box Score

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Owls erupted for eight runs over the final three innings to defeat Lipscomb, 8-2, and sweep a doubleheader from the Bisons on Sunday afternoon at Draper Diamond.

Kennesaw State (35-15, 9-3 A-Sun) pounded Lipscomb for 14 hits with five Owls having multi-hit games. April Keasler led the way with three hits while Klair Wells, Keri McKee, Kelsey Kulk and Norie Glazebrook had two hits each.

Janet Kearns (7-5) picked up the win for Kennesaw State, allowing just two hits in two and one-third innings of scoreless relief. Lipscomb took a 1-0 lead after Heather Collins (2-for-3) singled in a run off starter Norie Glazebrook in the bottom of the first inning.

The lead would stay until the Owls took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning. Kelsey Kulk (2-for-5) drove in the first run of the inning on a single down the left field line that scored McKee. Megan Gant (1-for-3) gave the Owls the lead with an infield hit that scored Keasler.

The Owls, however, couldn't keep the lead as Lipscomb (23-21-1, 8-7-1 A-Sun) tied the game on a pair of walks, a hit batter and a wild pitch. The inning of wildness cost Glazebrook as she was replaced by Kearns, who got the final out of the inning. Glazebrook allowed only two hits and two runs in four and two-third innings, but the right-hander walked four batters.

The Owls put the game out of reach in the top of the sixth inning when Wells (2-for-4) singled to center field to lead off the inning. With runners on first and second and two outs, Keasler (3-for-4) doubled to left field, scoring pinch-runner Jamie KeKaualua. Kulk followed with a single down the right field line, giving the Owls a 5-2 lead.

A two-run home run by Wells highlighted a three-run seventh inning for Kennesaw State. Amanda Malcom (1-for-4) led off with a single to left center field and Wells followed with a shot that cleared the right field fence. Keasler drove in the final run of the inning with her second double of the game.

The Owls continue their road trip with a doubleheader against Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
