KENNESAW, Ga. - Clint Roques drove in five runs as the Owls scored three times in both the seventh and eighth innings to defeat North Florida as Kennesaw State swept the Ospreys with an 8-1 win at Stillwell Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The win marked the first time Kennesaw State (21-15, 5-7 A-Sun) has swept North Florida (15-24, 6-9 A-Sun) in a three-game series since the 1998 season.

The Owls gave Dale (2-1) quick support as they scored two runs off North Florida starter John Atteo (4-3) in the bottom of the first inning.

Jacob Robbins (2-for-2) was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Martin Baker (3-for-4) followed with a single to left field. A sacrifice by Jay Morrow (1-for-1) put runners in scoring position and a wild pitch scored the Owls first run.

Roques, who drove in the game-winning run in the suspended game, doubled down the left field line, scoring Baker for a 2-0 lead. Roques would also add an RBI in the seventh inning and his bases-loaded double scored three runs in the eighth.

North Florida threatened in the top of the seventh inning when Jimmy Glanville (0-for-3) drew a leadoff walk. After a sacrifice, Dale struck out Brian Wilson (0-for-3) for his fifth strikeout, but T.J. Thompson (1-for-3) singled up the middle to cut the Owls lead in half.

The Owls got out of the inning when Chad Jenkins relieved Dale and got pinch-hitter Preston Hale (0-for-1) to ground out to Andrew Martin at first base.

Dale pitched six and two-third innings and scattered just three hits while walking four. Jenkins threw an inning and two-thirds and Justin Freeman pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

Kennesaw State will hit the road for a single game on Tuesday night when they travel to Alabama to play Troy. First-pitch is scheduled 7:00 p.m. EST.
