VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team finished up the weekend on a strong note as the Owls defeated Norfolk State, 7-0, to win three of four matches at the Hampton Roads Invitational at Owl Creek.

The Owls (4-16) switched their lineup after an injury to a Norfolk State player caused a pair of defaults at number three doubles and number six singles. Karen Ammann and Mercedes Cobos both were given the day off by head coach Brandon Padgett as the Owls played their fourth match in two days.

"It was a great weekend of tennis for the team," said Padgett. "We were able to win three of four matches and play well in the process. I'm extremely proud of the team."

The Owls took the doubles point as Giselle Nakakura and Caroline Page defeated Brittany Foster and Lerissa Morris, 8-1. In the number two doubles slot, Jeni Thomas and Lindsey Whalen downed Ashley Daugherty and Donita Peterson, 8-0.

Nakakura, playing at No. 1 singles for the first time this season, edged Lerissa Morris by a pair of 6-4 scores. Thomas and Page each won their matches by 6-0, 6-0 shutouts while Whalen and Morgan Wolkin were straight set victors.
