Conway, S.C. - Kennesaw State overcame a three-run, first inning, explosion by Coastal Carolina to down the Chanticleers, 5-3, in the final game of the Coastal Carolina Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
The Owls (26-10) got multi-hit games and two runs batted in apiece from Jennifer Nolan and Klair Wells as they won their eighth game in a row.
Nolan, who was three-for-three in the game, hit a solo home run, her seventh of the season and her second in as many games, to lead the Owls nine-hit attack. Wells had a pair of hits in four at bats.
Norie Glazebrook earned the win in relief of Brittany Matthews while Janet Kearns notched the save with three and two-thirds innings of one-hit relief.
In the game, head coach Scott Whitlock earned his 799th career fastpitch victory. Kennesaw State's Hall of Fame coach could win his 800th fastpitch game on Wednesday afternoon when the Owls visit Johnson City, Tenn. to play East Tennessee State in the Owls first Atlantic Sun Conference games of the season.
